Connected Processes and Systems

The Contichrom and EcoPrime Twin systems can operate connected batch processes in bind/elute and flow-through mode with in-line dilution capability. Thus, two orthogonal chromatography steps can be operated in a fully automated way without a holding step using one piece of equipment.

Connected processes (integrated processes) are often used as a polishing step for the purification of mAbs employing a cation exchange step followed by an anion exchange step with an in-line dilution between the two steps.

Combining two Contichrom CUBE system modules allows operating a downstream chromatographic purification train fully continuous. The system can be directly docked to an upstream perfusion reactor and serve an integrated USP/DSP continuous manufacturing process development tool under control of the ChromIQ operating software. We will soon also integrate fully automated virus inactivation steps as part of the continuous downstream purification train.
